The Club has decided to make a number of changes to improve processes

After the recent committee meeting on Wednesday 7th August, your Club has taken a long hard look at the race structures and organisation, and with all the feedback that we have received from drivers, spectators, officials and committee members, The Club has decided to make a number of changes to improve processes, driving conditions and standards and technology.    To those ends the club will be implementing the following changes from the September meeting.    

1. A) all of the Rotax engined Classes, that is:- Mini Max, Junior Max, 125 Max, 177 Max and 177

Masters,  will  now  be  using  a  Time  Qualifying  format.      That  format  is  as  follows:-  The mandatory 3 laps practice, a period of Timed Qualifying, Heat, Pre-Final and Final.     It is envisaged that this Time Qualifying format will have the effect of challenging drivers to obtain a better time against their personal best, without having the current challenges of racing against large groups of mixed ability.     This will give the positions for the finals to the lower times at the front of the grid, and the not so low times towards the middle or the back of the grid.    This should go some way to avoid the multiple incidents and collateral damage to drivers and karts that we have seen in the past. All other classes will remain in the current structure of mandatory practice, then 3 heats and a final. B) we will continue to enforce our Supplementary Regulations by having the option to amalgamate grids with small numbers, currently less than 5, to continue to support and protect the smaller or growing classes.    

1. C) following the technical issues we experienced at the last race meeting, the club is installing a second and backup timing loop, along with the new lap scoring facility which is due to be installed towards the end of August. Again, this will give us some resilience against technical failures that we have seen, which were beyond our control.

   

1. D) to avoid as much as possible human errors, that we have seen in the past, the club is currently exploring the use of track based cameras, enabling hard and fast Judge of Fact evidence to be used in Judicials.

   

1. E) As you know we are one of the few clubs in the country which are entirely volunteer based, and the club is putting in measures, to have the various volunteer groups brought together to re-affirm unity, consistency and communication in managing your club’s race meetings.

   

1. F) to avoid situations of congestion, delay and confusion on the dummy grid, we remind all drivers, PG’s and teams that there is a one way system onto and off of the dummy grid.

    The grid marshal is not there to give you your grid position, or debate the correctness of positions. Drivers are reminded that grid positions are posted on the window of the signing on building from Saturday afternoon.    It is your responsibility to know your grid position and be in it in good time for the start of the race.    

1. G) to avoid the emerging trend of first corner incidents by start line approach speeds being excessive, we will be closely monitoring the starts. We have asked the MSUK Clerks to watch and penalise where appropriate.
